Thanks so much! I've been stacking favors at Digg, too, although my network is still pretty small. I've just shouted it.

I hope you and your little guy get to feeling better. Take it easy!

That's why I said it would be a good one for Digg. :-D

Thanks, Donna! I just went to get the link, and it's got over 50 diggs arleady! Amazing what a little porn'll getcha. ;-)

The link, for stumble and mixx and other love, is:

http://www.divinecaroline.com/article/22079/64625-porn--stimulating-self-image

I won't be putting this one at my personal blog (at least not for now), and I have put in a request to DivineCaroline to change my display name from feathermaye to Heather Hyde-Herndon. Hopefully that will be done soon.

Ladies here is Heather's article I submitted to Digg: Stimulating Your Self-Image

My son and I are both sick today so if you have something, I'll get to when I can.

Bridget, that actually helps a great deal.

I write a lot of fluff, including 'feathermaye's friday five' that I don't mind using attaching my nickname to. (some people call it "letting my crazy show", lol). However, as I start to focus my writing goals, I would like to hollow out my niche (which I am still defining) and give my own name the credit it deserves.

Thanks for the food for thought, and for the link to ezine. I'm now reminded that I had discovered this site before, but somehow lost site of it.

Heather, where to submit articles really depends on your goals. You are a writer, so you need to build exposure but what type? Are you looking for writing jobs, name recognition, exposure for your future book, or all of the above.

It is good to mix up your where and how you are posting material. Your blog is branding Feathermaye not Heather Hyde-Henderson. If I Google your name I mostly come up with the GSW Network (as the creator of this network I like that :D) but you need some other sources. So I would say push some of the online publications to give them and you more exposure. I would write a few articles just for http://ezinearticles.com/ the amount of traffic that site gets will get you some great Google love.

When you post to a more journalistic type of platform it gives some added validity to your article, blogs are great but in some cases they hurt rather than help the content. Knowing the targeted demographic for a particular piece will help you decide where to put it. You already know your blog readership, now you need to break out your other targeted groups so you can figure out how to get in front of them.

The social sites we share content on are great because they have a multitude of categories to submit content to so don't be afraid to spread it out to your other publishing platforms. Also never forget about Google and how many ways you can get your name, company, and brand on the front page.

I hope this helped you, please let me know if you need more feedback.

Thanks both of you. Bridget, you just reminded me to post to Facebook. I always forget that one until last. Either Jen or jennifer is fine. I'm called both. Jen is shorter to type, so it is easier online.

Jennifer....(btw do you like Jennifer or Jen?) I just shared on Facebook too went a little crazy with that one. =) Love the title of the book and the blog!

Okay ladies, I believe I've hit both of your submissions at all possible venues. I'm not yet signed up at propeller, but have all the others.

Bridget, do you have an opinion about which site to submit when an article/blog is published on a couple of different platforms? I started a discussion here in the group about it, but I'm still sort of unclear on which would hold the most value for me (i.e. my personal blog, or an approved-slot publication online). I know that I can only submit the same piece once, so I'd really like to make sure I'm getting full mileage out of the submission.

I have an article pending at DivineCaroline right now that I'm not sure if I'll be publishing at my personal blog or not. It's lengthy, and my mom/kids might not be interested in reading it. ;)

I'll keep y'all posted on what I decide to do with it.

Thanks Bridget. I also just twittered about your post.
